I didn’t think it was possible but today was even hotter! We were however blessed with an intermittent breeze and some tall eucalyptus trees. It was a day of climbing, Alto being the high point at 485m.
The Palace staff filled our water bottles and put it in the fridge for us to collect in the morning. The kitchen was locked by mistake, and no one was available to help us, hence we had to leave them behind. We managed to buy some water enroute but it meant we were not carrying the large amounts that we usually carry. Result, extremely parched!!
We passed through a number of small medieval villages which seemed almost deserted. We half expected Robin Hood and Friar Tuck to pop out in front of us, the scene was so perfect for them !
It was a long hot “never ending” walk down into the town of Ansião where we were staying overnight at Adéga Típica, an Auberge located in the center of town. Our room was upstairs from the coffee shop and restaurant. We had a great evening meal of vegetable soup, salad and frites.
Really exhausted after such a hot day.
