DAY 19

VIANA DO CASTELO - CAMINHA

Leaving behind the beautiful Viana do Castelo, we made our way traversing along the forested hilly backdrop that is the range that runs parallel to the ocean traveling North.

This is our last leg in Portugal 🇵🇹 before we catch the ferry into Spain at the Portuguese town of Caminha at the mouth of the river Mino.

What a privilege it has been since we started in Portugal nearly 3 weeks back, to be able to contribute and give back, and afford other like minded and generous folk the ease of donating to GreenPopSA through our portal

The charming and quaint seaside town of Vila Praia de Âncora 10 km before Caminha is definitely worth a summer visit. We stopped for a short while to take in the beach atmosphere. In fact we had two lovely elderly ladies wanting to stop, sit and strike up a full conversation with us even though they didn’t speak a word of English and us Portuguese! We had exhausted our 6 Portuguese words on them, greeting them and telling them we are from Afrique de Sul, so bid them farewell to continue our Camino.😊😂🇿🇦

It really is gorgeous this part of the northern coast and we look forward to exploring Spain, once we have taken a day’s break here in Caminha . The legs and feet are feeling the effects of walking 8 hours a day for an extended period, and we have decided to take a break tomorrow, our first in around 500km

Doing The Way as a Vegan has had its challenges, wnd I don’t think the word “vegan” has ever been heard in this region, or they have driven out anyone who threatened the status quo of the carnivores !! 😂

We are checking out offline for a days rest tomorrow, so chat soon !!
Boa noite / Buenas Noches 🌳💚🌲
