DAY 13 ALBEGARIA A NOVA - MALAPOSTA

The early bird .... gets to its destination before the mid afternoon heat !!
True to form, a predawn 6h30 start paid dividends as we caught the rising sun and managed to get in a good stretch before things started heating up.

Neither of us got a good sleep as the Auberge was located on a busy with non-stop long haul trucks passing the whole night.

A fairly mundane start for the first 10kms or so kms with regular village scenery interspersed with countryside and LOTS of hairy road walking!

We were totally blown away today, whilst walking through the town of Salgueiro, hot and sticky as it was quite a climb into the town, we were greeted by the kindest soul. She invited us into her home, and we were given delicious ice cold water. Sandra Silva you are the kindest soul, thank you again for your love and kindness.

Our arrival in Oliveira de Azemeis heralded the start of a few historical and pretty towns before we reached the larger and more significant town of Soa Joa de Madeira where most pilgrims overnight. However as tomorrow’s trek to Porto (so excited !!😁) is a really long one we decided to push through for the longer day today, at 32km, to Malaposta, leaving “only” 28 km for tomorrow.

Sore feet, feeling tired, but energized for the arrival in the lovely major city of the North of Portugal, beautiful Porto
