DAY 8 ANSIÃO - RABAÇAL

4/9/2018

Made an early start as we just couldn’t take another full day exposed to this heat. We found a coffee shop on the edge of town open and stopped for a quick fresh orange juice and coffee. It was a small walk to get out of town, and then into little lanes lined with trees and fern forests, just magical!

We met with 4 delightful 1st year varsity students from Poland, just before Venda do Brasil. They had started in Azambuja, and were making their way to Santiago. Always nice to have a chat to other pilgrims.

Stopped at the service station in Venda do Brasil to have a quick coffee and then on our way again.

Temperatures were slightly lower today so the last part of the walk in the open was bearable. Arrived in Rabaçal and went straight to O Bonito for a coffee and then across the road to their restaurant for some vegetable soup, salad and frites. This seems to be a staple order of ours as it’s the easiest non-meat option.

An almost pain free day on the feet front, so making good progress on all around.
