Day 26
PONTEVEDRA - CALDAS DE REIS

A lovely walk today, made more so by the interaction with other pilgrims and long conversations had with a couple of them whose paths we have crossed a few times before. Made the time fly !!

We left Pontevedra in a light drizzle, joining the lines of pilgrims emanating from the direction of their night’s accommodation, and crossed the Roman built Burgo Bridge over the Lérez River in single file.

The spirit of the Camino was perfectly exemplified today by the actions of a kind German couple from the cafe table next to us. On seeing Linda’s errant feet as she was redressing her wounds whilst having a much needed espresso, they rushed over to offer 2 large “skin” plasters as a solution. They then proceeded to cut and dress her wounds, making sure all areas were covered! So wonderful, as they even left us with strict instructions and how to use them and a large spare. The Camino provides🙏

A mix of terrain today, including a number of grape vines as we neared our accommodation for tonight in Caldas de Reis. Hot springs (Caldas), with numerous healing properties are the main feature of this town, and our very basic hotel provided a hot spring fed swimming pool which certainly accommodated many, many tired pilgrims, all bobbing around in it!!
